I am writing to strongly support the application of Maria Blanco for the Citizens Redistricting Commission. She brings a wealth of relevant voting rights knowledge and skills, she has enormous stature as a leader in the civil rights community, and she brings a deep appreciation for the diversity that makes California the great state that it is. Ms. Blanco is well respected and is well-known for bringing integrity and a consensus-building approach to her work. The Citizens Redistricting Commission would be well served by Ms. Blanco because she would not only help it to “hit the ground running” but she would also exhibit a strong commitment to transparency and public involvement.
