Vincent (Vince) Barabba is a perfect choice for this Commission because of his diverse background and unique leadership strengths. He has the distinction of being appointed to government positions by five U.S. Presidents, from both political parties. He twice served as Director of the U.S. Bureau of the Census, being appointed by Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. He was also appointed to be the U.S. Representative to the Population Commission of the United Nations by Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush. His talent in solving major issues comes from his ability to work across party lines for the greater good of all. His private industry experience also shows leadership in overcoming major obstacles and understanding what is in the public’s best interest to have successful results.

Vince’s demeanor is very non-threatening, and he has a strong track record of motivating diverse groups to work towards a common goal. His service to his country shows an individual who is not selfishly motivated.

I have been a resident of Santa Cruz County for 33 years. As executive director of the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau, I am keenly aware of the importance of having individuals in leadership positions who can solve contentious issues. Vince Barabba has shown through his achievements that he is one of those individuals.
