I strongly support and highly recommend Maria Blanco as a candidate for the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Not only has Maria devoted her career to public service, but she has extensive knowledge and experience in the voting rights and redistricting arenas. She understands and will help the commission navigate its way through the legal issues that can arise out of the redistricting process. Her decades of experience with public service organizations such as the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fun, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, and the Warren Institute at Boalt School of Law, UC Berkeley will benefit the work of the commission immensely.
As a resident of Los Angeles, and a former resident of the Bay area, Maria’s perspective on the commission will ensure that all residents of California are represented.
